We bought our first house, in Weston MA, 1982.
It had a nice front porch, maple trees along the road.
Inside was a bit of a mess. It would need paint, wallpaper, a little work on the kitchen.
The kitchen was a real mess.
In those days we did the work ourselves.
Aaron supervising the dining room wallpapering
The kitchen fixed up best we could.

First day of school breakfast, 1985.
Hurricane Gloria, 1985. Lots of trees down, no power for a few days.
Dining room with new curtains and wallpaper.
1986, Norm from This Old House gave us a new kitchen, master suite, and family room. Here is foundation for family room with master bath on stilts.
New kitchen and family room.
The house so out of square they had to lay the floor on diagonal.
1988, added a bluestone patio in back.
Again we did the work ourselves, Molly supervising.
We had a nice small garden around the edge. All those acid-loving plants – hosta, pieris, astilbe – that we can’t grow in California.
1996, getting ready to sell, we put in a new front walk and garden.
May 1997, a week before the open house, our beautiful garden covered in snow. It never snows in May!
July 1997, we said good-bye to Weston. Off to California! (The garden looks good, though!)
